- The Thistledown Story
From our base in the idyllic Adelaide Hills, we work with pristine fruit sourced from iconic vineyard sites. Giles Cooke MW and Fergal Tynan MW, with the helping hand of Peter Leske, hand-make small-batch wines that illustrate the benefits of great sites and intelligent winemaking.
The unique blend of superb fruit sources and experience in both the New and the Old Worlds helps craft wine of subtlety, texture and detail – wines perfectly suited to complement rather than overwhelm fine food.BUSHFIRE UPDATE: Posted on the Thistledown Facebook page on January 9, 2020.

100% of profits from Nebbiolo sales will go directly to those impacted as a result of the Adelaide Hills bushfires.
Pre-orders are now available for delivery in mid-February.
Devastating bushfires ravaged the Adelaide Hills in December, with many businesses and families affected, including some of Thistledown’s growers.
As a show of support for the region, Thistledown are releasing a limited edition Nebbiolo from the Adelaide Hills, sourced from Bowe-Lees-Loveys vineyard, which was among those destroyed by the flames.
There are 800 bottles for sale, at $200 per 6-pack with free delivery Australia wide.
The grapes were hand-picked on 11 April 2018, wild fermented and aged in old French hogsheads. The wine has the characteristic pale, brick red colour of Nebbiolo, and a haunting aroma of rose petals, anise, spice and wild cherry. Multi layered and complex, the firm palate is offset by delicious morello cherry fruit, wood spice and herbs.
